Unhappy Pilot light keeps blew out

I'm a rookie here. My natural gas water heater pilot light has been blew out three times in a week. What could be the problem?

Could be a bad thermocouple. If it is bad, it does not send a signal to the control that lets the main gas valve open. This is one reason that you have to hold the button in for 30 to 60 seconds when lighting the pilot. May also be a source of air blowing it out. Is the cover on the pilot/burner assembly? One other thing I have seen is a dirty burner that "pops" when it shuts off. This can blow out the pilot at the same time it pops. Good luck.
