Gas Timer

I've seen electric water heater timers. Is there any type of timer that can be put on a gas unit?

You can either lower your water temperature or put the gas valve into vacation mode to save on costs. The only part I do not like about that advice is the constant use of the thermostat which isn't normal in most cases. For the most part though the most efficient way to save on fuel costs is to insulate the tank more than what it is already.

R-value is the key to savings. Hot/warm water can remain in a tank not used for 3 to 4 days with the gas/electric turned off to it. The first time you have to use your hot water on an unscheduled time, you'll be waiting for hot water.
