gas power vent water heaters

Our Rheem is 14 years old and needs a new ignition module (again). Any suggestions or input on a good reliable brand or model to replace it with? Do you know anything about American Water Heater brand? Lowes carries one of their power vent models. We did hear that A.O. Smith has bought American Water Heater. Trouble is, there never is anyone available at Lowes to answer questions about products. Thanks for any input. ;-)

I did drain cleaning work for a American Mfg. Co. about 6 weeks ago and I discussed numerous issues with their water heaters.

Needless to say the only response was that the serial number with a letter in front of it has better results than the older models and,

that they will pay $80 instead of $70 for the service call by a licensed plumber to fix the ongoing problems with flame-lok (FVIR) systems.

I've only installed one of those water heaters in the past 4 years. I've had my hands on 4 A.O. Smith water heaters in the past 5 days though.
