Do I need a pressure tank?

I have a 50 gallon electric water heater. Should I have a pressure tank? What size? How is it installed?

You dont say what water you are on. The way city water is going for sure put a EX tank on the water there. If your on a pump then No. I know Lowes has one guess Home depot also. They have a 2 gal tank just for this . it can go in the cold water by the heater or any where else in the cold water line Ask or look for a diaphragm pressure tank. some call them a bladder tank.

Pressure tank

Thanks, Ed.

I am on city water and I have a pressure reducer valve, but the pressure creeps up when the water is not in use.

If I understood you correctly, the 2 gallon expansion tank would be sufficient. Correct?

Thanks again.
