Question water heater

is a gruggling or rumble sound normal in a gas water heater.i've drained the tank,refilled,opened all facutes in the house to remove air pokets then turned on gas,now it makes a rumbling sound.

I assume the heater makes these sounds when the burner is on. If so, this is actually quite common. People often describe the sounds as pounding, boiling, rumbling, popping, thumping, cracking, etc. This is frequently seen in areas that have high concentrations of minerals in the water. Flushing the heater may or may not help (it usually doesn't). There is not much you can do short of replacing the heater. I would just live with it.
