leaky element
Hey All,
I have a Rheem 61 gal electric water tank with a leaking top element. Will tightening work? Also, is it a 1.5'
" socket?

You can try tightening it. Turn off the water first and release the water pressure from the hot side. I don't know what size the element is but you can use a socket if you have the right size.

For screw in elements a 1 1/2 inch socket is needed. How old is the water heater? Sometimes the female threads rust out and leak. More often, it's a bad element or gasket.
You can try and tighten it and see what happens, but turn off the water first in case it blows out (rare, but possible).
