Takes water awhile to get hot

When i turn on the hot water in my house, anywhere, it usually takes it about 2-3 minutes to get hot. Once hot, the other faucets nearby will be hot too, but it just takes it a while initially to get hot water to where i want it. This really gets on my nerves in the morning when i want to take a shower.
Is there anything i can install that will help the water get hot faster or just get the water circulated properly so i have hot water on demand instead of having to wait 3 minutes?

Grundfos, and others, make a pump that will work without having a separate line for return. You install the pump on your hot water heater and a by pass device at the lav sink at the farthest from the water heater. Works great and will save lots of water. You can get more than one of the by pass devices if you have sinks and showers at different ends of the heater.
