tankless water heater vs furnace

I'm so glad to have found this site! Will be building a new home in the spring here in the northeast. I've never used gas (LP is all that's avail.) but think I will have a gas fired furnace for heat as opposed to the oil I'm used to. I'm also considering a gas heated tankless hot water system. In someone's comments I saw something about the gas lines not being able to handle gas for both. Would that be an issue in a new home? I would welcome any opinions about gas vs. oil. (I plan on in floor heating in some areas - opinions?)Thanks!

The gas line just needs to be sized properly.

Like said they just have to be sized right. With LP for sure get a two stage set up in the line from the tank to the home. For a good 11" W/C (The PSI )

Go to http://warmair.net
you can compare fuel cost for oil LP and electric
