smell in water

Cool smell in water

I have a gas hot water heater....we have been having a smell in the hot water.....I have been told that it may be the Anode Rod...we have a magnesium rod in now...would like to know so I can solve the problem

usually if the smell wasnt there before the anode rod off gasing is a good bet.

you should be able to find an aluminum anode rod. they are a little more expensive but last longer and do a better job

thanks...hot water heater put in this year.....have not have this problem before......Home Depot has a rod....so will give it a try

wow. that would be really really fast for an anode to go bad. are you on a well or city water?

Smile smell in water

I did not have this problem until just lately....I will remove the tube this weekend....drain most of the tank and then see what happens....will let you know
