Bang coming from inside water heater!

I have a 5 year old, Reliance 40 gal, natural gas water heater, thats vented out the basement wall.

About a month ago, I hear a bang, like the sound of sheet metal expanding, and contracting. I called two company's, one put a new baffle in, which didn't stop the noise, and the other one, said it was the tray below the burner, and not to worry.

Something is really wrong, but I can't find anyone who can fix the problem. So far, I've spent almost $200.00, with no results.

Thank you,
Bob...........

You need to describe with care when this noise occurs and where it comes from.

This is presumably a matter of carefully tracking down where this noise comes from, which I doubt we can do ---- it's something you would have to do.

I'd guess it's also unlikely we can improve upon what two repairman found. I can't think of any problem that's likely to cause the noise you describe and therefore I'd be surprised if we can be much help since we can't examine the equipment.

You never no though. Someone may surprise me.
