Thumbs down Insufficient hot water.

I have a 40 gallon gas water heater. I have the thermostat set at its highest point and the water is hot. But, in the past two months, after one shower (maximum 10 minutes), the hot water runs out and you have to let it heat back up. I have had the rumbling/popping noise well over a year now, even though I have drained and flushed the water heater twice. I am guessing its time for a replacement, even though its only about 5 - 6 years old. (Note - no water softener or filter is used.) Any other suggestions?

Sounds like the dip tube. This would cause what you are describing. The water heater is not that old and you could buy replacment parts and tune it up.

Not enough hot water from water heaters

I agree with Lawrosa.....same symptoms, but my tank was only 10 days old and it was the dip tube.

BobbyV123,

Welcome to the forums, and thanks for starting your own thread.

Answer my questions in your thread.

fairplay, Sounds as though whoever delivered your new WH layed it on it's side. OOPPS!!!

Streich,

Gas WH and only a few minutes of hot water? Your WH is too new to replace. Go for the dip tube.
