Leaking Hot Water Tank

Seems I am going to have a lot of fun with my new home. While installing shut off valves for the hot water tank I seem to have loosened the pipes that you attach the flexible lines from their attachments to the tank itself. I have water welling up in the depressions that threaded pipes emerge from. Did I manage to loosen something or break something loose? Is this fixable by simply tightening the pipes or did I need to disassemble part of the tank to reach what ever I need to do?

You may have loosened the fitting going into the hot or cold. Sure snug it up with a wrench. If not take the fitting out and re-dope it. Then reinstall.

If it still leaks, possible the heater is old and the tank is shot. Those inlet/outlet areas alway corrode.

If a new tank...

Don't buy American or Whirlpool. See huge threads regarding these.
