time waitng on 2nd flr HOT WATER?....solution
Ask this Old House Rich.T had a segment on the fix away from the NEW tankless heater(take note on old location comment and pipe diameter increase) when there wasn't a hot water problem during the show.just wondering has any plumbers have tried this pump add on my questions are 1) can that pump get the cooled riser water into the cold line that easy? 2)he doesn't talk of check valves isn't that a hot to cold bypass when the pump is off when you open a faucet... Remember that while Trethewey has a Massachusetts "master plumber" license in reality he is just a plumbing and heating consultant.
Moving the water from the hot water piping to the cold water is no problem as it is really just one big loop, no different in theory than a closed hot water heating system. I don't know about that particular pump but these systems will have either a positive displacement pump or integral check valves to prevent cold-to-hot flow when the pump is off.
