Is this normal? Please help.

I have attached some photos of something my wife noticed yesterday. This water heater is brand new and we just moved in a little over a month ago. I hope someone can help out with this. Thank you and have a blessed day.

Its fine from a mechanical stand point. No concern really.

The installer could of made efforts to protect your walls from soldering of the pipes. He could have soldered the joints away from the wall, or used a piece of ceramic protector. We used asbestos back in the day.

Shop Oatey Soldering Flame Protector at Lowes.com

So your saying it looks like the installer soldered the pipes after he mounted the pipes to the wall which caused the burnt marks on the wall and water heater itself?
