I just replace the anode to my gas water heater it is 7 years old. I notice the water is leaking around the anode opening. I tightened the anode but the water is still leaking. what are my options

Yes I used Teflon Tape, There was a sponge kind of seal around on the opening I had to broke that in order to reach the Hex Bolt. I notice that the water is coming from the surrounding area of the Bolt

Teflon tape by itself often leaks, I always use a Teflon goo in addition to the tape. Sometimes I simply forego the use of the tape.
