Gas supply turned off.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but hoping it is!!
My gas service was shut off. Do I need to do anything to my hot water heater and other gas appliances before it's turned back on??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

Any appliance with a pilot would be in shutdown when the gas is turned back on. You can turn the gas valve on the water heater to off for now. When gas is restored you'll have to relight any pilot lights.

Thx PJmax!
I wanted to verify if I indeed should turn off the supply valves before the main supply was restored.

In my town they will not turn on gas unless someone is at home and they can come inside and inspect. Before they leave they want to verify that all pilot lights are lit or valves to the appliances are closed to insure against leaks.
