Recircirulation pump vs check valve

I have a 2 year old Grundfos recirc pump on my HWH - and the check valve is at the far end of the system. Is there a test to see which one (pump or valve) is bad if my system isn't operating as it should be?

Yes read page 5 here. The watts and grunfos are the same product with the same type valve.

As far as the pump you should hear it running if its working or feel it for a slight vibration.

Check the timer settings too if you use that feature. Sometimes they get messed up from power outages....
