Hot Water Pressure Dropped FAST

Hi all,

We just had a technician install a brand new 40 gallon electric water heater not even a week ago. It's been fine til an incident tonight. We were doing the dishes with the hot water running in the kitchen and the hot water pressure dropped to a trickle. The cold was fine. We did not check other faucets in the house. We went downstairs to investigate and although there was no water under the new water heater, there was a puddle of water under our main water valve...we have the main water line coming into the house...next is the shut off valve and after that is some sort of pressure gage next to the spicket. The water was under that. We're on city water and have hard water. Thoughts? Thank you!

Hello and welcome...

Well check the faucets in the rest of the house and let us know if its consistent...

We can take it from there...

If some fixtures/faucets have good hot water flow I would remove the aerators on the problem faucets and give them a cleaning. While you still have the aerator off turn on the hot water and see if you have good flow.

Water underneath the spigot. Was the spigot completely closed? It's possible it has a slow leak.
