Draining HWH

Draining HWH

Hi All, what harm would it do to a electric WH to drain it for the months my condo if vacant ? I can see no harm.

Just make certain you turn off the power BEFORE draining and also make sure the entire tank is filled (continuous flow from a hot water tap) BEFORE turning the power back on. Hang a tag on the circuit breaker or local disconnect advising of the condition so no one else will turn on the power.

Heat still going to be one to prevent the pipes from freezing?
No reason to drain it if the heats going to be above freezing.

Sorry,I should have mentioned the condo is in Fla. In a second floor unit,just want to be safe while I am not here,got away from the cold for the winter.
