Question water heater 98i drain install help please

Hi,

I am having issues figuring out what to do with the drain plugs on this Rinnai 98i, there is nothing in the book and they don't like helping the home-owners when I called. please help...


following is the picture of the diagram... and there is nothing in the book about this.

I didn't see that exact model number in the heater list.

Plugs in question ? What are you trying to do to them ?

What is your concern? The plugs are removed to prevent freezing when the heater is laid up. They are of no consequence during normal operation. If you are planning on laying up the house during the winter and traveling to a warmer climate then you could install valves instead of the plugs to make it slightly easier to drain.

I don't know what to do with them like just leave them be or actually hook it to the drains directly.


full model number is : Rinnai RU98i

and it only has 2 extra plugs not 4... sorry

If they are metal plugs then leave them be. If they are plastic plugs then replace them with metal using Teflon pipe paste on the threads.

They are plastic plugs hand tighten on there.
