White Rodgers Controller Wont Turn On

So my water heater quit working. The controller will not light up. It is a 37E73A301P1 unit. On the circuit diagram, for the gas valve connector it shows blue and black wires as the voltage supply. There is 120V across them, so its getting power. Also, I think the temperature switch is prior to this.

My question is, if its not lighting up is there anything else to check aside from the board being fried? And if not, are different brands universal? Like:

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Your link didn't work for me--never opens. What type HWH do you have & what is it doing right & doing wrong? Eg. inducer fan starts, igniter sparks or glows, gas valve clicks (or doesn't)...or nothing at all?

Here's an Emerson link that should be of some help there.
I could not locate your exact valve in the list. Are you sure the model number is correct ?

Here are the water heater and controller numbers.

It doesn't do anything at all, no lights, clicks or anything. The controller wont display anything. But it does have 120V going to the connector that goes to the controller.
