Replace plastic drain valve with brass?

Is this a big deal? Why don't they do this from the factory? Seems a nice metal 1/4 turn boiler drain is better than this plastic junk.

The big deal will trying to get it out without breaking it off and having to deal with at least 50 gal. of water rushing out unless you shut it down and drain all the water out of it first.
I use a bronze 4" nipple, a real ball valve then a garden hose connector.
Boiler drains tend to leak over time.
Plastic valves cost less, that's why they use them.
