water heater problem

Hello guys.
My electric water heater(3years old) keeps pusing water out from white tube connected to inlet shut off valve(thermal expansion valve), making annoying water flowing noise. Its been doing that for several days. Might be faulty valve? need some help! thanks.

Welcome to the forums.

What site is that picture posted on ?

Rarely is it a faulty valve. Many times it's increased water pressure in the house. That can be caused by a defective whole house pressure relief valve.... if you have one. Does the water coming out of the hot water faucet appear to be hotter than normal ?

Do you have an expansion tank? It is typically installed near or above the water heater.

Every new tankful of water expands when heated. This can cause a big buildup of pressure without an expansion tank. Un;ike air, water does not compress noticeably. Something has to give.

Or if you already have an expansion tank its air cushion could have slowly gotten lost

One pressure relief valve anywhere in the plumbing with no valve or check valve between it and the source of the pressure buildup will suffice. There is one shown on the top of your water heater. Apparently there is another on the valve with the white pipe dangling down and this one tripped first.
