State water heater lockout

Hello
I have a State gas water heater that goes into lockout and kicks in about three times after sometime but doesn't start. Last year in September happened this and started working properly by itself. Worked perfectly till may 2019 but again locked out and no hot water. We called a plumber he checked it and said everything is fine and somehow it started working again. But after 48 hours same problem. I am thinking it might be ignitor issue.
Please help me out what can be done.
thanks

Welcome to the forums.

Posting the full model number would be helpful.

There should be diagnostic lights on the controller that shows what the fault is. Typically the problem is the draft inducer starts and the pressure switch does not prove a vacuum causing the system to try a restart. That could be caused by a clog in the line that connects the pressure switch to the inducer.

What codes are you getting ?
