Bad anode rod

I have 2, 30 gallon water heaters in series. Have flushed both but still getting cloudy water in hot tub. Is this a system of bad anode rod or rods. One heater about 10 years old and other about 8 years. Both in crawl space and only way to get enough water hot water for tub. Do they make bendable rods for 30 gallon tanks?

Bad or consumed/spent anode rods do not cause cloudy water as far as I know. Are you on a well or municipal water? I suspect the incoming water or some biological living in the heaters.

Probably shouldn't say cloudy more like dirty water and am on Raleigh water. Only see it in 60 gallon hot tub.

Have you ever flushed the sediment from the heaters? It can look really nasty. You'd be surprised at how cloudy it is in addition to the various sized chunks that come out.

Before replacing the anodes I would try flushing the heaters. If you've never done it or if it's been a couple years the drain valve may clog. You can poke it clear with a large zip tie or you can replace the stock drain valve with a 1/4 turn ball valve which clogs less often.

I have flushed tanks several times in the last few weeks. Probably been 2 years since I had done it.
