new water heater white slimy glue stuff
We are trying to figure out what the white slimy glue-like stuff is that came out of the hot water in the kitchen sink upon installation of a new AO Smith water heater. It stuck to the sink, the silverwater and the aerator in the sink and took a lot of scrubbing with soap to get off. Regular dishwashing didn't do it and we do not have a dishwasher. Would love to know if this is possibly toxic or not. It stopped coming out of the hot water side after just a few minutes but the residue is on everything! Professionally installed Friday but I am afraid to use the hot water and cannot get answers from anywhere so thought I would try this....just spent the last two hours (Saturday) scrubbing. Thanks!

We finally got a call back from the plumber. Seems it was pipe dope and according to the one who called...same company not the installer....there is a blue pipe dope that doesn't do this so hopefully this will help someone else.

Welcome to the forums.
That's debatable.
I use pipe dope all the time and have never had it enter the water system.
What did your plumber do..... goop up everything until it was dripping.
