AO Smirh vs Rheem Water Heater

I need to purhcase a new 40 gallon gas water heater from one the big home supply stores. Which brand is better AO smith or Rheem ? Why ? -Thanks

They are both good brands and make base and higher end units. I would take a hard look at the models, a lot of times your getting de-contended units to support the lower price. Going cheap is not always what you want in a WH!

I just recently replaced a 50 gallon natural gas tank water heater. I went with a Rheem Pro Plus and added a 2nd anode rod (magnesium), which extends the warranty by four additional years to 12 years.
