Help choosing water softner please?

We need to install a water softner in our house, can someone give us some guidance in what are some good recommendations out there?

We are on city water, so far we had the people from Hague come and show their equipment, their watermax looks good but I personally think its pricey at $2500, is it worth it? what other options do we have?

Thank you for your help.

I'm not going to give advice on any particular brand or manufacturer; just trying to give helpful advice. First and foremost, definitely keep going in the direction you are going, and that is having an actual water filtration company serve your needs. Yes, it is going to be more expensive than purchasing a unit from a large retail store, be it a Mall store or a Home Improvement warehouse type store. These places have buying power, but they do not have the knowledge and know-how to answer your questions.

Don't believe all the hype that salespeople try to give you, and don't let them sell you the biggest system, but you do have to take into consideration the size of your family. Figure on a good 75 gallons of water usage PER DAY for each member of the family. This sounds like a lot, but if you think about it, it's pretty realistic. Get something that will be able to handle your needs as economically as possible, and get something that will be easily serviceable. Some of these high tech gadgets look impressive, but have they been proven over time? Sometimes the best thing is to go with a valve that has been around for 30 years and is still working strong enough to still be in production.

Also make sure that it can be byp***ed for service. Good luck!

The asterisks appeared out of nowhere! I don't know why. The word I typed was b-y-p-a-s-s-e-d. Meaning you can still keep the water to the house pressurized while there is no pressure on the water softener itself so it can be serviced.
