Marlo Iron Filter and Soften in One Unit

Does anyone have experience with treating Iron and Hardness with one unit? Our local water treatment outlet sells Marlo Units that do that. Link here, http://www.marlo-inc.com/product/adv.htm The units seem to be reasonable in price compared with buying multiple units. And it seems like a good idea to keep it simple.

I have hard water, 40 grains, and moderate iron 3 ppm. I have been using a Birm unit to treat the iron. It successfully does the job, but the extra air in the system is a hassle.

Yes, a normal softener will remove hardness and ferrous iron to a limited amount.

The right size of softener must be established. If you are using a single tank system then the number of people and the gallons each person uses must be guestimated along with the actual water conditions.

If you are using a twin tank system then the number of people is not a major concern.

Make sure you have no solid (ferric) iron coming in, which the greensand can remove. You would be disappointed if that were to happen after removing your greensand filter. A greensand can also convert hydrogen sulfide, which a softener will have no effect upon.

Make your water analysis as extensive as possible before investing further in your water treatment.
