Not sure. Most mold units work a few different ways. Some are passive whereby air simply passes through them. Others emit ozone into the air anmd still others are forced air units with hepa filters designed to remove mold spores.

The passive ones are not very effective (although handsomely cheap) and will hardly be able to cover the square footage advertized.

Forced iar units will only treat the air that actually passes througfh the unit. But you are introduced mold reduced air into mold infested air. Like putting clean oil into a dirty oil filter.

Ozone units attack and treat not only the air that passes through the units but also sanitizes volumes of air that never come close to the unit. Care and understanding are essential in operating these but they are the most effective.

Some are designed for vacant spaces where high levels of ozone is used, others are designed for occupied areas where only traces of tehr triatomic gas is used.

Thanks for the helpful info. I'll pass it on to the homeowner. It's the passive one she was thinking about purchasing (she would actually need at least three in this particular two-car garage!) Thanks again.
