Fleck 7000: Where to buy?
I've researched the various "salt-fee water softening systems" and find them all to be quack.
The City says my water hardness is 20 gpg, though I have not tested the water myself. I drink from an RO system. I live alone, but would like a 40,000+ grain softener for my house. The scale build up on my month old glass shower is disgusting.
I bought a 40k GE Smart Water softener from Home Depot. It leaked. So I promptly (disgustedly) returned it but kept the 200 lb of KCl.
I believe what I want is a Fleck 7000 controlled unit.
The question is, where do I buy? I've found some internet based outfits that sell a 48k Fleck 7000 unit in the $600 range. I'm cautious with regard to trusting these outfits. I would like to buy locally, if possible to facilitate returning of a defective unit. I live in the SF Bay Area.
So those of you with experience in these matters, where do I buy a reliable Fleck 7000 water softening system? I do not object to buying online. However, I expect good service.
Thanks. Frank.

What, besides low price, make you want to decide on a Fleck 7000? What are the factors leading to your decision?
Oh, I agree withthose so called 'salt-free' units.

I just installed a Fleck 7000 48k. It was pretty easy to install myself. I got it from ohiopurewaterco.com. The shipping of the unit is very fast. I got it in 2 days. The customer service is great also. I had trouble programming it. I called their customer service number and they walked me through it. The unit was $540. Hope this helps.
