Hi,
I plan to install a whole house water filter & was wondering if it is ok to use the braided flex hoses, like for a hot water heater installation, on the inlet & outlet of the filter. thanks.

No prob!
Your only concerns would be that the fittings are on tight and the diameter of the piping is adequate. There may be a little more pressure lose due to the irregular interior surfaces areas.
