Am I being taken advantage of????

We have had a culligan medalist conditioning system for 4 years and have also carried a maintenance agreement the entire time. The past 2 months they have been to our home 4 times because the water is hard, each time the tech. makes adjustments. Last week he came again and I told him that he needs to do something more than adjustments and he told me that he was going to replace the resin tank. Okay so when I get home from work today, I see a black spray paint ring and a bunch of resin at the very end of my drive way, I go and look and the resin tank is black (same color as the spray paint in the driveway). The note on my door states that resin tank was replaced and that it cycles fine. What is going on????? I tried to call but the office was closed. I have to wait until Tuesday to call, any ideas if this is normal???? Why would the tech paint the resin tank??? Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm

Doesn't sound very normal to me. the only thing i can think of as to why they would spray paint the tank, is that is there way for future service techs to know the resin was exchanged. Me personally i would be upset they let a mess in my driveway.

Spray paint

Tank manufacturers will usually void their warranty if solvent-based paint is used on their tank. Get something in writing from the dealer that they will warrant the tank for at least as long as the manufacturer's original warranty.
