Water in tank
Hi,
I have culligan softner, and it drains to my sump pump. I checked the salt, and it is about 3/4 full of just water. Water is very rusty (well water) and kinda smells like iron. Can anyone help me with this matter?
Thanks,
borderlover

Many Culligan units are not finely tuned and quite inefficient. The brine draw is probably timer based, so large volumes of water in the brine tank is common.
Since this type of unit uses HARD water to regenerate and for brine fill, it contains all the contamination found in the source water. Eventually, iron staining and other problems occur in the brine tank.
Hard-water regeneration can lead to shortening the life of the resins.
