We have had several posts here regarding our water softener, and thanks for the info so far. One of the posts asked us what our water hardness was and the pH and the iron content. Also they told us about our system, Kinetico and we have tried several times to give the answer but haven't gotten a response. Our systemis a kinetico 100 on the top of the valve head is a clear dial, which reads brine, rinse and backflush a couple of times. We see one number a number 1 no other numbers and the the number one is not repeated around the top like some pics I have seen. Do we have the correct valve disk or should we get the kinetico techs out and adjust. We cleaned all with super iron out and so far all is great. But how long will this last? Is this the proper amount of salt for our water supply hardness was 8 iron was 1.75 and pH was 7.2 any advice will be welcome.

Hello, Another Kinetico question. We bought a home that had a Kinetico 60 system (new in 1987 I'm told) that was not working. The previous owner did not replenish the salt (perhaps for about a year). We had someone local come out and they got it going. They changed the pre-filter (it was nasty) and manually regenerated the system and it has worked for about 4-5 months. Recently the water started getting hard and rust started showing up in the house. I checked the tank and the salt doesn't move. I regenerated the system a couple of times but nothing. I've heard it go through regeneration on its own but we still have hard water and rust. When I did the manual regeneration the water seemed to get a little softer but that didn't last long and it was still rusty and somewhat hard. I have the local guy coming out again to look at it but I'm sure they will want to rebuilt it for $500-$700 because the first time he was there he said that was the next step. Any suggestions on what to do next? Thanks, Craig
