Whole House Filter Install Outside

Hello, i Live in Houston Texas. I am wanting to install a Whole House Filter outside my house. Is there any problem installing one outside in the heat? Is there a specific filter that i should get that will handle the outside temperature?

Many different types of filters are installed outside all over the US. Don't get a clear housing. They seem to grow a lot of alge. What are you trying to remove?

I have black stains in the toilet bowls. And thick black stuff that looks like calcium on the faucet screens.

Ditto on what biermech said.

Try a white housing or a reflective wrap to keep heat down. You should never have to worry about sunlight damaging the parts or making the water too hot.

You also need to know just what your water quality is to select the proper filter.

Fleck 5600se maintenance

A few questions regarding a 5600se. I just did my first attempt at yearly maintenance n a 2 year old softener, the installer did the first year free. I purchased all the necessary O-rings, screen, nozzles etc. online and my first issue was when I take off the two injector mounting screws, the injector and brine module doesn't come of as it says in the service manual. Is there a method to this, is it supposed to just drop out? I have new orings for the drain (18) and injector (19), but do I really need to get in there to replace them annually? I decided to carry on and replace the injectors/screen, and to my surprise there was no existing screen installed in the unit. I cleaned everything out (iron deposits), installed new injector nozzle and throat, screen, replaced the large injector cover O-ring and re-assembled and regenerated. Everything is working fine. Any idea of reasons why I wouldn't have a screen in the unit? Is this an error by the installer, and if so how would it have affected the unit for the last year? I have no intent to go back to the installer, but would like to know if I should complain if they have affected the condition of the equipment. Many thanks. GusRead More

Softener or Carbon filter first in line?

Hello, We are in the process of building a new home and the discussion we are having with different folks leaves us confused. Some say to put the Carbon whole house filter first in front of the softener and others say to put the softener first in line to lengthen the life of the carbon filter. What are the pros and cons or should there only be one way to set this up. Thanks for any help.Read More
