Installed new GE water softener today.

I replaced my old unit that was broken.
Everything looks fine.
But i have not water pressure.
I am on a well system.
It looks like the pump cuts on and i get some water flowing.
Then It stops.
The new system is on bypass so water is bypassing new system.

Any ideas?

If the problem occurs even at a faucet that is connected before the softener then the problem must be with your pressure tank--if a bladder tank could be a failed bladder--or the pressure switch.

If the problem occurs only after the softener then the problem is with the bypass valve or the softener installation.

Most newer systems have a bladder tank--To check the bladder tank--check the air pressure at the schrader valve on the top of the tank. It should read a pressure that falls within the range of your pressure switch--typically 30/50 or 40/60lbs. If you get water out of the schrader valve it means the bladder has failed. If you get a reasonable pressure reading and no water then turn off the pump, isolate the bladder tank and drain the tank. Check the pressure again. It should be 2 lbs less than the cut in pressure (the lower pressure). If the pressure is zero the bladder is most likely failed. If the pressure is positive but not correct then correct it and try the system again.

I think you might be on to it.
I have an outside line that has no water as well. It is before the softner.
we do have a blue tank that looks like a pressure valve on the end of it.
Unfortantantly the gauage was installed facing the water heater.
I will check out your suggestions.
thanks
