Autotrol vs Fleck Valves

We have a two tank system on a well that uses an Autotrol 255 valve. We have been happy with it, except that about every four months I need to take the valve apart and dip it in muriatic acid to free up the backwash control assembly ( the rubber ball freezes up with minerals). I have been doing this for 12 years, but finally after all this abuse, I can't get it to pull brine out of the tank, (although I can suck it out by mouth).

I am about to buy a new valve, but I am wondering if I should go with a Fleck valve instead. Does what I have been fighting happen with a Fleck valve as well?

On my well I have a whole house PH filter--- sediment filter---then softner. The PH and sediment filters do a good job of catching stuff so my venturi has never clogged. I think all controls use this type of technology to draw brine.

There are units that use brine to fill the brine tank, or already treated water to fill then draw, so this type of control might be benificial to the venturi.

The Fleck valve might have challenges different from the autotrol valve but should be easier to work on.
The Fleck valve can be completely taken apart and cleaned, the brine assembly area is totally different from the autotrol as the ball in the brine line is most likely at the bottom of the brine pick up tube under the 2310 assembly.

I have worked on both the Autotrol valve and the Fleck valve. I like both but feel the Fleck is more dependable and easier to work on.
