Kinetico Mach 2040s OD loss of water flow

During the regeneration phase of one of the two regeneration cycles, water flow to the house completely stops until after regeneration has completed. After the cycle has completed total flow is restored. This only happens on one of the two regeneration cycles. The other cycle never affects water flow to the house during regeneration. I have completely dissasembled the head but there appears to be no visible problems.

Do you have a prefilter ahead of the softener?
Does this happen to both sides of the system? Main and remote tank? Only during the 'backwashing' stage?

The prefilter cartridge is new. It only happens to one side of the system. It happens during the complete regeneration phase, brine fill, rinse and backwash. As soon as the cycle has completed total water flow is restored.

I have never heard of this problem. It sounds like the level that switches pistons may not be set right or something causing it not to open.. How old is the unit? Does water to the house 'completely' shut off or just reduce flow.

Where are you located?

The unit is 5 years old. The water completely shuts off until regeneration is complete. I have completely dissmantled the head and I cannot see anything damaged or sticking. It is completely clean inside the head. All the orifices inside have been blown out with air.

Are you getting hard water.
Either the piston lever which mechanically--not hydraulically--open valves may be stuck, missing or out of place. That would still give you soft water but may cut off water to the house until regen is done.

The upper basket could be clogged but that would result in hard water while on that side.

No there is never a loss of soft water except total loss of all flow during the one regeneration phase. The entire inside is free of any debri. I have pulled the head and cleaned it out but it appeared to be perfectly clean to begin with.

When I last pulled it apart I saw a lever in there. I will need to take it apart again and then examine to be sure I am on the same page. I will probably need to get back with you to verify what I am looking at. Electric based water softeners I have had in previous homes were much simpler especially since complete documentation was available. The Kinetico's seem to be lacking on available documentation. Thanks.
