Do I need the CanPro Media Guard with my water softener?
I noticed the CanPro Media Guard as an option to purchase with the water softener (Fleck 5600SXT) and didn't know if I would need this. I am on a well with hard water at 16 grains per gallon, iron .6 ppm, TDS 287, PH 7.5 and a flow rate of 7 gallons per minute.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Generally, I would avoid them. They will work we'll on chlorinated water but with iron, their service lives are much shorter. There are other issues as well.
These are surprisingly difficult to refill and most just replace them. Size your your softener accordingly and you will have fewer problems.
