RainSoft 9596 drain restrictor flows to fast

After changing the filters and flushing the system, I noticed that the flow in the drain tube seemed rather fast. I unconnected it, and it is at a slow flow, not at a fast drip as it should be, even after adjusting the drain restrictor screw to lowest flow position. Why won’t the drain restrictor screw allow adjustment to a slower flow?

Also, when I shut the holding tank valve complete off, the drain flow remains the same, even after ten minutes. Isn’t there supposed to be an Auto Shutoff in the system when the tank is full or off?

Is there a fix or replacement part for the drain restrictor screw/assembly?

Might you have a photo of the Rainsoft system in question?

Some place in the manual there should be a parts list, in that list there should be a flow control insert or button , it could be that the flow control that came with the system is going to need to be replaced.

Finally bit the bullet and had the RainSoft tech come install a new flow restrictor valve. As usual, it cost a small fortune, but way less than the cost of excessive water flowing down the drain every day.

Did you get a manual for the system?
Did the tech put down a part number?
Now that you know the part that he replaced by getting a backup you should be able to get one and be ready.
