Newbie here needing some water filtration advice....

Hello all...Looking for some advice from the pros here. I moved into my home about 10 years ago and had installed a sulfur system about 8 yrs ago. My present system is inconsistent since it seems to be getting constant sulfur bleed through.

I have been reading and researching along with being visitied by a few local water companies giving me their resolutions to my issues. Everyone seems to do something diffrent...

Existing System:

Chlorine backwashing nightly

Have not done an official water test at a lab yet

Here are the results of one of the local water companies

Iron-1
Sulfur-4
TDS-220

Here are a few of their products:

My vote would be chemical injection (chlorine), 120 gallon retention tank, 2 CF Carbon. You must over come the sulfer with the chlorine injection. Once done, you will not have smell. Then use carbon to remove the chlorine. I have seen many different media fail at removing high sulfur. Mostly due to the weight of the media combined with the lack of proper flow rate of the well to backwash the media. Carbon is light weight so no worries of enough flow rate from well.

Thanks Biermech. I am pretty sure that the chlorine injection would work as well. Here are some concerns;

120 gal retention tanks needs to go in garage adjacent to the room in which the water filter is. Not sure if this would be a good idea?
Chlorine from what I hear is rough to maintain. Crystallization from what I hear is a major culprit. What's the best way to maintain?
Since my tank and autotrol valve are already 6+ years old does it make sense to reuse?
Media that he would use is catalytic carbon. What about this new media called Katalox light?

Chlorine is not hard to maintain. The crystallization most likely is the hardness around the injector which may have to be cleaned every 2-3 years. That's hard to say if you should reuse your equipment because I can not see what shape it's in. Katalox media is new to the market. I have sold it twice but have not had the expierence enough to comment on it.
