Autotrol 255 problems

Hi , i am having problems with my autotrol water softner,
i have the 440i controll timer , it would appear that it is not able to turn the camshaft, it is clicking, i have taking it apart and checked all the gears and cogs, there are no broken cogs , when i take out the 440i controller and power it up on its own with out the camshaft, it turns every cog no problem.
have you any idea of what would be making it not able to turn the camshaft, i can turn the camshaft by hand. i can see the centre yellow little cog trying to rotate when the camshaft is connected, but its like its stuck or something.
any help i would greatly appreciate it .

Welcome to the forums.

At DIY.... a topic is contained within a single thread. This your thread.

I'm not a pro with all those softeners but it sounds like a timer motor that is stalling under load.

Others will be by to help you.

That be where I would be going, the timer motor should be replaced. Motors do ware down or just stop.
