Fleck 5600 12 day salty water

I had to replace an unknown electronic valve on my system because it failed and the board was as much as the valve $500. I went for a Fleck 5600 mechanical valve where I could actually buy parts as they failed to keep it running. The system has two 9" x 48" tanks. The one under the valve is for carbon and the second has the resin. When I installed the valve I noticed the water in the house would be salty for a while after regen. My thought was that the orifices are sized for one resin tank so it wasn't backwashing enough to rinse both tanks. I have the #1 injectors, 0.5 GPM BLFC, and 2.4 GPM DLFC. I was planning on getting the 5.0 DLFC to give more backwash flow. Any thoughts or solutions?

The water is city water with 9 grains of hardness.

Your 2.4 flow control is the right one for that size tank. Check the salt setting. There should be about 12-15" of water in the brine tank. More water may indicate a leak in the brine line. Check the connections for a loose nut.

What is the salt setting shoe set for?
There are a number of reasons for salty water after a regen and high water in the brine tank is only one of the reasons.
