Centaur carbon

Possible to renew gac by back washing with strong peroxide injection? We have about 12ppm hydrogen sulfide and every year or two it starts getting smelly even with my normal peroxide injection... I usually do a few backwash with stronger mix when this happens, and smell goes away. Just wondering if gac eventual goes bad etc? I put current centaur carbon in about 3 years ago...

Might look at increasing the peroxide injection. Either increasing the mix or increase the injection amount, or increase the amount of peroxide in the storage tank.
At some point the carbon does go bad, nothing lasts forever.

Yes, going to look at getting a more adjustable stenner pump so I can use straight peroxide, not worry about mixing it and becoming dilute etc...

Any idea how long centaur carbon will last on average? Is there a way to prolong its life?

Thanks,

What grade of peroxide?
7% is already some thing that one has to be careful with.

It all depends on what is in the water the amount of peroxide and the amount of water usage each day.

Also the ratio of peroxide to water. And then there is the amount of carbon in the tank, ie cubic feet?
Are you going through the carbon to fast? 1 cubic feet but your trying for 10gpm?

I use 35% peroxide to make about 7% solution in a reservoir tank, and run that through a stenner pump... I'm thinking of just using a new adjustable stenner pump with straight 35%...

My current carbon is about 3 years old... not sure if I can let it go bit longer... I did a few backwashes with stronger solution and hydrogen sulfide smell has went away, so not sure if carbon is ok again.

What is the pump settings?
How long is a stroke and how often is it going?
Is it controlled by the well pump or a meter?
