Plan on moving but need a water softener - 7 grain
I need something cheap to install before I put my place up for sale..
The house is 4br with 2.5 baths, on well water. Using the Hach 5B test, it came in at 7 grains. Currently, it's just myself living here full time and my son 1/2 the time, but I'd like to size it for 4 people since I'll hopefully be moving on.
What I'm looking at is a 40K GE unit. Is that to large, small or about right? Assuming the size is good, are there any other low cost softener I need to look at?
Thanks!

If moving I wouldn't bother. 7 grains is sort of the minimum I've heard to even begin considering a softener. Let the next people figure out what system they want.

If softner is a problem with new owners just either cut off price a little or give them a check at xlosing. Than they could get what they want. I would not even mentionnit till they brought it up.

For years, I've been feeling a water softener is needed. I get terrible hard water stains. It's a never ending battle.
n the past, I've had to fix pin holes in copper and had to replace a hot water heater because the water ate the copper. When that happened, I had the water tested and if I remember correctly, it came in at 11 grains. Things happened and I never got a softener..
With this Hach 5B kit, it's coming in at 7 grains of hardness, which I'm finding hard to believe because the amount of mineral buildup I get on my sink fixtures and the stains... What are the odds the test is off?
Let's say I get a water softener, what size would I need for 7 grains and 4 people? Is a 32K setup good?
Thanks!
