Question Fleck 5600 settings and Calcite/Corosex mix

Greetings to all. I'm new to the forum. I have a single tank aeration backwashing iron filter with a Fleck 5600 SXT control valve. I'm wondering what the correct settings should be especially the Valve Type (VT) setting. It has 1 cu. ft. of Katalox Light media. I'm also considering changing from a soda ash injection system for low PH to a calcite/corosex backwashing filter. I would like to know what would be a good percentage for the media mixture and is it calculated by weight or volume? My current setup is a cartridge type sediment filter-soda ash injector- iron filter- softener. The softener is a Whirlpool WHES-44 model. Water specs are: Ph 5.21, hardness 2.5 gpg, iron 1.1 ppm, manganese .5 ppm, tannin 1 ppm, alkalinity 7. The softener followed a chlorine injection system for years so I'm concerned about it's condition. Thank you for any and all advice!

How is it that you know that you have tannin?
Flow rate from the well?
