wood burner

Howdy from Missouri! I would like to know if anyone has a source to or has plans for building an outside wood burning furnace for alternative heating. Either hot water type or forced air type. Thanks Jess

wood burner plans as a search term will give you many results to sort through.

Here is a site that sells plans.

Building one of these would be a dooable DIY project but a couple of things have to be kept in mind.
A wood-fired boiler can skirt many local building code and fire insurance regulations because they can be placed far enough from dwellings to be a minimal hazard.
A wood-fired forced air furnace on the other hand must be in or right next to the building and present a major fire hazzard.
I am also hearing about burning restrictions in some areas due to the recent rash of forest fires.
A fellow on the road to my place had a fire due to no spark arrestor and his wood pile being too close.
He was very fortunate to have only lost half his wood pile and the outer skin on his boiler.

I have a certified wood-fired forced air furnace and have to provide make and s/n as well as installed clearances and several photos to have my homeowners insurance in effect.
