Electrical requirements for Miller Thunderbolt

I learned some stick welding some time back, and every now and again I wind up thinking "if I only had a welder I could...".

I can get a loaner Miller Thunderbolt 225 welder (with the crank on top) that would serve my needs exactly. I'm not sure of the power requirements, though.

If I changed the power plug on this machine to match the wall receptacle for the clothes dryer at the house, will the welder work properly (and not burn down the house)?

That 225 should work fine on a stove plug. Make sure you use a heavy enough extension cable.

Here is PDF of a manual for that machine.

It will likely trip the breaker on a dryer circuit,, as Greg said it will work on a stove circuit though. I would run one just for it though. Using cable use a number 8 wire and a 50A breaker and get the right recept to match the welder plug,, the grounding in the recept is slightly different than an old stove or a 3 wire dryer.
