2 welders, welding the same piece

I have seen 2 or more welders grounded to a single workpiece, and poeple welding on it at the same time. I have seen this in welding shops, training facilities etc. Its a pretty good idea to save time and such.

But I wonder if its good for the welding machines or safe (to normal welding conditions) for the operators?

Since the electricity will take the shortest path, wouldnt that imply that one machine will be taking on a bigger load than the other (depending the on polarity used).

In my shop I can do this 2+ welding for some projects, but I dont want to do it (and influence others to do it), if its not good.

this happens all the time. i have hand welded an excavator bucket with a co-worker of mine. at the place that i work, we have four inverted robots in a robot cell that is all connected to a common ground. we have 8 of these cells. as long as all the machines involved are on the SAME polarity it will be ok.
